IN PROGRESS

This series is the result of one year stay in Europe. I go always to my archive and see what I have photographed before in my homeland. There are some similarities but maybe I am too optimistic. The west is different, but I always see what I was being witness of before.

9 CHANNELS VIDE ART

9 CHANNELS VIDE ART

Nine video pieces. Each captured from a static camera position. We are presented with uninterrupted video footage of various oversized sculptures positioned on lawns between the streets of Tehran. The Jomhour Collective's Highway Art series exclusively grants us an extended, contemplative representation of those acts of 'beautification' promoted by Tehran's municipal organisation, the Department of Beautification.

DEHISCENCE

Dehiscence is a peculiar word; in botany it refers to both the act and the moment when a pod bursts open; in medicine it is used when a wound splits open after treatment or suturing. Failure dehiscence is the overly repeated narrative of wounds that cut open, wounds that have been stitched over and over again, and we, unable to heal them, frightened, can only murmur our lament for the wounded body.

OF SILENCE

OF SILENCE

"The Saddest City in the World" is the exaggerated label that the architectural historian Wouter Vanstiphout gives to Tehran. This remark, however, does not and cannot exhaustively describe the multiple temporalities and political flows of Tehran. RHYTHM OF SILENCE narrates these constant transformations aesthetically, depicting the commodification of space as a global trend with a local authoritarian flavor.

In 2009, my life changed forever as a member of the Green Movement in Tehran, protesting electoral fraud and broader injustices in Iran. I witnessed the regime transform public spaces to stifle social interaction, showcasing how politics infiltrates urban landscapes to silence citizens. In a context where newspapers and social media were censored, public spaces became the last bastion of free expression. Inspired by influential artists sharing my concerns, I decided to document these changes through exhibitions. Critical approaches became essential to deepening my projects as an independent artist.

I'm currently open to new opportunities and projects. Feel free to contact and discuss your ideas with me.
